The Highlights allows you to visit all of Iceland’s top destinations in at your own pace. You choose from one of five options for the duration of the passport with no limits on how often you travel back and forth.
The passport is aptly named as it provides access to some of Iceland’s most outstanding natural wonders. If you would like to see most of Iceland without making to strict plans, this is the perfect option. The passport is also ideal for those who prefer to spend time off the beaten track and perhaps enjoy a hike or two along the way. With the Highlights Passport you can travel back and forth within the time frame of 7, 9, 11, 13 or 15 days. Interesting places along the way include: Kjölur highland route, the birch forests at Þórsmörk nature reserve, the moss covered Laki craters, Skaftafell National Park, the icebergs floating in Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon, the hiking paradise at Jökulsárgljúfur canyon and many more.
From Akureyri, in the north, you can connect with the natural wonders of the north-east. Dettifoss, Ásbyrgi and Krafla are all included in the passport, as well as Húsavík whale watching center. All along the south coast you will have the ability to connect with exciting mountain routes and see some amazing places such as Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon and Skaftafell.
You can choose a 3 day option or an 11 day option for something in between this passport offers good value to the independent traveller.
The Highlights Passport is valid from 13 June to 8 September. Note that some routes start later or end earlier, please observe each individual schedule. Road and weather conditions might affect individual routes as well.
