To reach Reykjavík Campsite, you have several transportation options depending on your starting point. Here are some guidelines or different modes of transportation:
From Keflavík International Airport:
- By Airport Transfer: We recommend booking a transfer in advance with companies like FlyBus or GrayLine. They offer scheduled pick-up and drop-off services at the campsite, ensuring a smooth journey.
- By Car: You can rent a car at the airport and drive to the campsite. Follow road 41 towards Reykjavík. As you enter the city, the road name changes to Hafnarfjarðarvegur and then to Kringlumýrarbraut. Continue on Kringlumýrarbraut until you reach Sundlaugavegur. Turn right onto Sundlaugavegur and drive 0.9 kilometers until you spot the campsite parking lot on your right-hand side.
From Reykjavík Domestic Airport: If you arrive at the domestic airport, you have a couple of options:
- By Bus: Take bus #14, which operates regularly, to the BSÍ bus terminal. From there, you can walk approximately 15 minutes to the campsite.
- By Taxi: Another option is to take a taxi from the domestic airport to the campsite.
Using Public Transportation: Reykjavík has a well-connected bus network operated by Strætó. You can use their website (klapp.is) or the Cycling Iceland website (cyclingiceland.is) to plan your journey. Bus #14 specifically runs between the city center/BSÍ and the campsite/hostel.
Walking or Biking: If you’re already in the city center or nearby, you can choose to walk or rent a bike to reach the campsite. It’s approximately a 3-kilometer distance, and you can enjoy a pleasant 15-minute bike ride along the seaside or a 40-minute walk, taking in the beautiful views along the way.
Remember to consider the weather conditions and your own preferences when deciding on the mode of transportation. Enjoy your journey to Reykjavík Campsite and have a wonderful stay!
