Landmannalaugar hiking trails
Landmannalaugar is a region near Hekla volcano in the southern area of the highlands. A popular tourist destination and hiking hub in Iceland’s highlands. An area of varied shapes and forms with colorful rolling hills and mountains tinted by rhyolite minerals and obsidian post-glacial lava flows. Almost invariably the starting point of the famous Laugavegur trekking trail, but also an ideal base for a variety of rewarding daylong or shorter hikes. The local natural geothermal pool and showers facilitate perfect relaxation at the end of the day.
Landmannalaugar is ideal for one-day visits or extended stays. Camping facilities and sleeping bag accommodation in mountain cabins are available.
In Thorsmork you will find a small and quiet Slyppugil Campsite, operated by HI Iceland. It is located where the trail LAUGAVEGUR ends and where the trail FIMMVÖRÐUHÁLS either ends or begins. It is a hidden gem, just 200m away from the Langidalur Bus Stop to/from Reykjavik.
The Campsite fee is used to maintain and improve facilities for travelers in Þórsmörk – Slyppugil.
Reserve your Camping Spot HERE. The price is 3.200 kr incl the shower.
